Theoretical

I've been making a conscious effort to paint light colourful paintings, however in these dark winter days close to Christmas the paintings have a mind of their own.......As I start off with light, bright and colour, I am in complete control of the work. Some point in the painting comes a switch over, where the painting starts to demand a certain criteria, I then have to go with the flow of this ...this painting Theoretical started very light and colourful, the transformation certainly has taken me by surprise.

I used to paint a lot on paper, actually almost entirely on paper, love the way the paper absorbs the paint/marks. So I had a hidden stash of paper and decided it was about time to use it again.....

Thick luscious oil paint

I can’t resist  thick oil paint, not only a visual delight but the wondrous smell of oil, is truly something else, you certainly can’t get the same senses going with acrylic paint. I finished this gem today, just waiting for it to dry so I can frame it.
