Silence speaks

New works on wood panel and linen, all share one thing in common; being small approx 12x12 inches and upwards). I always have in mind that I wanted to create small jewel -like magical paintings...... just received  a shipment of small stretcher  frames and a new roll of linen, so more small works to come. Hope you enjoy them!

Distracted

...yes I am, so easily distracted at the moment. I think its a day for re-evaluation...big sigh! Here is an experimental work using the coal man's sacks, the photograph isn't too good, the original is better (I find it so difficult to get a close reproduction)

Yes strange heading but there is method in my madness, I asked the local coal man if I could have his old sacks, (now he thinks I'm even stranger than before ;-)) ).....
I've started two new works incorporating these sacks....soon to follow!

Thoughts

..... enjoyed painting this one, what I really like is to use a material which is not necessarily for painting, its given me an idea for another. Trying to photograph it was difficult because of the sheen of the graphite, maybe the use of coloured spot lights shone on it would be interesting.

colour with black...or is it?

An art tutor (long time ago) told me never to use black... I do use black, either straight as in charcoal or I mix my own using dark colours together.....but the age old question; is black a colour?...hehehe maybe no one cares, it does make colours appear more luminous though.

Colour simply comes from light

Colour is simply light of different wavelengths and frequencies, light is just one form of energy
that we can actually see that is made up from photons. Each colour has its own properties, unique wavelength and frequency.
Colour depending on the frequency affects us much more than we first realise. Here is the beginning of my exploration in painting of the amazing abilities of colour.
